dada des brimbelles z

One word immediately comes to mind when the name Dada des Brimbelles Z is mentioned – flash! From his great big blaze to his talent in the ring, Dada as he is affectionately known by those closest to him is as flash as they come.

French bred by Haras des Brimbelles and Zangersheide studbook registered, the 16hh bay gelding by Darco out of Biscotte Des Brimbelles was initially campaigned by French rider Antoine Helie in Europe before Linda and Graham Huddy fell in love with him in 2016 and brought him back to Australia. Paula and Olivia Hamood picked up the reins when he touched down on Australian soil in 2016 before current rider Gemma Creighton took up the ride in 2020.

And what a partnership Gemma and Dada have been! In 2024 Gemma and Dada solidified their status as one of the most competitive combinations on the Australian jumping circuit, never leaving a Grand Prix, World Cup or Championship class without a ribbon. Leading Horse at Adelaide Royal, member of the winning Australian team against New Zealand at Willinga Park, Runner up Australian Senior Champion and currently ranked third in the 2024 Australian World Cup League, this combination is one to keep a very close eye on.

“Being runner up at the 2024 Australian Championships would have to be one of our most memorable moments in the ring together so far,” Gemma shares. “To climb our way up from fourth to jump off for the title was such a thrill and it was a pleasure to be able to do it against such a talented horse and rider combination in Phil Lever and Billionaire NZPH.”

Around the stables Gemma tells us that Dada is an all-round good guy. “He is a lovely horse to have around a real lover of all thing’s food! He expects treats for anything asked of him – they are definitely the way to his heart!” If any of Dada’s fans out there are thinking of delivering him extra treats at GDP, his favorites are licorice and toffee apples!

Dada’s dislikes you ask? Not being fed first, anyone trying to do things with him before he has eaten, other horses still eating after he has finished his own food and of course those paddock pests like flies of any sort or birds that try to go for a ride in the paddock.

Dada’s love of food and round body shape means that he has to have a specially fitted saddle to make sure Gemma doesn’t go rolling right around. Paired with a cob sized breastplate and pony reins, Dada and Gemma are grateful to sponsors Edwards Saddle World Toowoomba for keeping them perfectly outfitted for Dada’s unique needs.

The team at GDP will be cheering you on in the Grand Prix Dada and we will do our best to convince Gemma that you need extra toffee apples for being a certified good boy!
