BILLIONAIRE NZPH
BROWN AS HE IS KNOWN AT HOME IS SO LOVED BY HIS OWNER THAT HE GETS A SPECIAL DELIVERY EVERY MONTH!
Tonight we tell the story of a very special horse who we are sure needs little introduction to those who follow the Australian jumping circuit. Our current Australian Senior Title holder and a fan favourite, it is our pleasure to share the story of Billionaire NZPH or Brown as he is known by his enamored rider Phillip Lever.
Born in 2010, Brown was bred by the Hansen family at New Zealand Performance Horses. Brown’s sire Calvaro Z has some pretty impressive lineage with Cor De La Bryere and Capitol I on both sides. Of course, Brown’s dam Tax Blues NZPH is not to be overlooked. Sired by Mr Blue who goes back to the phenomenal Le Tot de Semilly, it is little wonder that Brown turned out the talented athlete we know him to be. Interestingly, Brown carries quite a lot of Selle Francais blood across both his dam and sire’s pedigrees.
In the relatively short time Phil and Brown have been paired, they have quickly become ones to watch come competition day. Just eight weeks into their partnership, Brown and Phil finished runner up at the Australian Jumping Championships. Following their debut they have accumulated quite an extensive list of accolades including fourth in the Sale World Cup, fourth in the Summer Classic World Cup, first in Summer Classic 1.50m, third in the World Cup at DJWTS, second in the Caboolture World Cup, third in the Waratah CSI1* Grand Prix, and of course Australian Senior Champions at the recent national championships.
Phil and Brown continue to go from strength to strength and we cannot wait to watch them grace the GDP arena very shortly.
Brown is owned and very much loved by Deidre Hartog of Orchard Equestrian. Brown holds a very special place in Deidre’s heart. Every month, Brown gets a very special delivery of Stud Muffins, for those of you thinking of the dictionary definition, you would be wrong. Stud Muffins as we learnt when researching this piece are in fact an incredibly tasty horse treat. Brown’s most loved treats in fact!
Brown is a big guy with a huge heart, however he does have a couple of strong dislikes. Good luck catching Brown when he is happy in his paddock (lucky you have those stud muffins Phil). His other strong dislike you ask? Jump poles. Brown will do everything possible not to touch them.
As a sensitive horse, Brown likes his rider to be very, very still and very, very balanced. He can be a little difficult to get on and once you’re aboard you better sit still as he is very sensitive to any movement made.
Brown is a beautiful guy. He has the kindest eye and a huge heart. He is adored by not only Deidre and Phil but all that meet him. Phil and Brown would also like to say a very big thank you to their sponsors CWD, Veredus, KEP Italia, Stable Ground, Tack Box Saddle World, Parlanti, Prydes Easifeed , Australian Equine Veterinary Group.
Good luck Brown, we will be cheering you on from sidelines, we cannot wait to see you at the Classic!
