CARPINO

This pony was runner up in our Martin Collins Australia Grand Prix last year and truly embodies the essence of spice. A beautiful chestnut with such spirited charm that we know this one will be one to watch.

This is the story of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐎! Or at home known as 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 and proudly partnered by the talented Billy Raymont!

Caitlin Bolger bred, broke and produced 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 to be the spicey orange pony he is today and Billy, wouldn’t want him any other way. He was born in 2012 and he stands at 16.1hh. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢is by Yalambi’s Carpino Z out of Oaks Dreamtime. He is lovingly owned by Jacinta Kelly.

Bred very much in the purple he interestingly has Capitol I in his bloodline on both sides, Capitol I was bred by a legend in Holsteiner breeding, Harm Thormahlen he carries the famous Stamm 173 bloodlines.

Capitol I was sold as a foal to Hosltener Verband and is credited as being one of their founding sires. Caprino’s Dam was sired by the famous Stallion, Clearway.

Clearways' State Premium Dam, Wodka, belongs to one of the most important mare families from Holsteiner breeding. She produced a daughter Carassina who jumped internationally with Lars Bak Andersen.

Clearway by Capitol I, also achieved international placings with Lars Bak Andersen, for example at the Neumünster and Braunschweig grands prix. Wodka’s good genetic make-up is also brought out by her daughters Chika’s Way (by Caretino), a mare with many international results first under Janne Friederike Meyer, then Katrin Eckermann, and most recently Pius Schwizer, and Carassina (by Concerto II), winner of the Hamburg Derby under Thomas Kleis in 2009.

Capitol I is a real rarity in the ranks of Holsteiner stallions he related to that other pillar of Holsteiner breeding, Landgraf, which means he adds variety into any breeding programme founded on those lines.

Righto thats enough, this about the spicey 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢!

𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 loves his treats, he always pricks his ears when he knows his family are finished working him and heading towards the liquorice stash!

One of his other loves is a good roll, its usually the first thing he does when he goes to his paddock or when taking him for a hand walk at the show. (Hello timing!)

Dislikes? He really loves his mate which means he really hates when they are taken away from him, the whole showground will know about it, he makes more of a roar rather than a whinny when he calls out..quite an awful sound really!

Billy tells us. “It is a full time job trying to work out how to make 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 happy and content. Making sure he gets enough time out in the paddock, but not too much. Making sure his diet is to his liking, quite fussy when it comes to food. Making sure he has a stable amongst his friends so he has a couple of options if one gets taken away. “

Billy also says “If you were to come across 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 standing in the stable, you wouldn't think 'wow, what an impressive looking jumping horse' (sorry 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢) he's a bit of a lean machine!

However, when he enters the ring he has a lot of presence about him, he usually bounds around a course with his tail swishing and his legs kicking up, he is quite the show off. We love his eagerness and fighting spirit when he's in the jumping ring. I think that’s how he got the reputation as being 'spicy orange'. “

𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 joined Raymont Equestrian in March 2022. Caitlin Bolger bred and produced 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 and took him all the way to jumping his first World Cups. It was an extremely hard decision for Caitlin to part with this special horse and Billy is so grateful for the opportunity to have 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 join the team and he cannot thank Caitlin and his current owner, Jacinta Kinsella enough.

Billy and 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢s first show together was at Sentower Park in Belgium. Very well travelled pony this one!

It was just a couple of weeks after 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 joined the Raymont Equestrian team that they were on a plane to Europe. He was campaigned for about 5 months over there before coming back to Australia.

Billy is hoping one day to have another opportunity to take 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 on another overseas trip as he feels like he would be a much better horse next time around now that Billy and Tess are a lot more familiar with him and him with them.

Billy and 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 have had lots of success together, placing in all their World Cup starts together. Their latest result being 3rd in the WC at Summer Classic. They were also 3rd Waratah WC.

Billy and 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐫𝐢 finished runner up in the GDP Grand Prix last year, would love to go one better! Look out World it is very possible! We would love to see you go one better as qwell and we will be cheering out loudly as will Caitlin we are sure!

Billy would like to thank all his supporters, owners and sponsors. Raymont Equestrian has had and currently have some amazing horses on the team (like Capri) and that wouldn't be possible without our amazing owners.
