CONCHITA VAN DE HELLE
The story of this horse and how their rider came to be is pretty special to the whole family. The old owner is also considered family to the new ones. So its great to have a story where it is just meant to be.
This is the story of 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 who is now owned and ridden by Sam Overton.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 as she known at home was bred by Stoeterij Van de Helle in Belgium and when she first came to Australia in approx. 2020 was ridden by Izabella Stone then Kate Hinschen took the ride in 2022 who stepped her up to the larger classes even competing at 1.45m classes at Sydney Royal.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 has a cute nickname from her previous owner Kate (Hinschen) which has stuck. Con-eye
So how did Sam and 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 come to be?
It’s a little unique as the 2 families are so entwined yet it was not until they saw an Instagram story of Kate’s, did they know Connie was the horse for Sam! Sam purchased Connie in August 2023, she wasn’t advertised.
Sam takes up the story and says “we aren’t spiritual people- but to be quietly looking for another potential GP horse and to come across one that was with Kate Hinschen… it was just right from the get go.
Bit of history…. A few years ago, Kate (along with support of Amber) gifted Sam and Carly (Sam’s wife) the beautiful old Dommy. (CD Visage) .
He had a myriad of health issues, which we tended to along with buckets of love from both of our daughters… and in return he gave us a few years of so much joy, success and love in return. He actually took them both to Australian Junior Titles!!
We have been forever grateful to Kate and Barry for the gift of Dommy and have had a beautiful time sharing it with them.
So, to purchase Connie - we feel like we are again saying Thankyou, and we get to enjoy the life of a wonderful horse together again. “
For those who love the breeding bit, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 is by Colman out of a mare called Piola who was by Quinar (Quidam De Revel) We are sure you all know tabout Colman.
Colman was a solid performance horse, energetic, full of elasticity and had an amazing jumping capacity. Colman won his 100 day jumping test and was placed in the top group overall. Colman is a son of the international show jumper Carthago. Dam's sire Lord became one of the most famous stallions of the Holsteiner breed. He has produced top horses such as licensed stallion Chin Chin, Colmander, L.B Convall etc.
So another one in the purple! Its becoming our favorite colour.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 is a lover of life oh yes and food and her pony mate Chaz (Cha Cha Blue)
We often want to know dislikes yet 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 has such a great temperament the team at Overton Showjumping have not even seen her pin her ears back. Not even once!
Having been together for such a short time there is an exciting journey ahead for Sam and 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞, their most memorable moment so far however been the amazing Clear round and runner up title with Team Domeland at Magic Millions.
Sam is sponsored by Bates, and the lucky 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 has her own custom Bates Saddle which she will be proudly wearing when she makes her way around the Martin Collins Australia Grand Prix!
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 we love a heart tug story and we love a story where the new owners have a relationship so closely entwined with old. You are beautiful and we are so excited to see where your Grand Prix future takes you. We will be cheering for you at the Classic!
